Month-Long Vigilance Drive Conducted by South Central Railway

n a proactive move, officials from the South Central Railway (SCR) in Hyderabad have undertaken a month-long special drive. During this period, they booked seven cases against individuals found carrying inflammable items, including firecrackers, on trains and an additional 219 cases against those caught smoking on railway premises. The SCR has been proactive in conducting several awareness programs to discourage the carriage of inflammable items on railway premises. These initiatives were launched well ahead of the Diwali season to educate rail users about the risks involved. The month-long intensive drive, which ran from October 18 to November 16, included both awareness programs and checks to penalise violators.

Railway officials had issued advance warnings to rail users against carrying firecrackers or any other explosive or inflammable items such as gas cylinders, petrol, and fuel. As part of the awareness programs, extensive publicity was given through various media channels, and regular announcements were made at railway stations to sensitise passengers about the rules and the potential dangers of violating them.
